I have been a member of Derwentside A C since 1988 when I started as a Junior Athlete and in my first few races for the club I came in last but I did not give up and eventually started to improve and made good progress as a senior I enjoy competing for the club especially in the local Road and Cross Country Races. I coach the youngest members of our club the FUNdamentals group that are of Primary school age. In 2011 I qualified as a Children's Coach. I enjoy seeing the juniors learn new skills and then improving them. I am also the Chairman of Derwentside A C and represent the club at the County Durham Athletics Network Meeting's and at the Derwentside Athletics Action Group.

        Peter Blackwell

I have been a member of Derwentside AC since October 1984. Joining the club and training with other members soon improved my performances and I have many happy memories of races and events competing as a member of Derwentside.

I coach the Under 15's and Under 17's age group in Multi Events.

In November 2004 I qualified as a Level 2 coach in Children in Athletics then in January 2012 I qualified as an Athletics Coach under the New UK Athletics scheme.

                Colin Brothers

I have been a member of Derwentside ac since 1991  and have been the club's Treasurer  since 2002. When our club set up the Athletics Ability Section I decided to take an England Athletics Coaching Assistants Course. I find this role within the club enjoyable and very rewarding.

            Christine McGlone

I am firstly a mother of a child with a disability but I come from an athletics background having run cross country and distance running in the past, so I have always had a love of athletics. Coaching the Athletics Ability group is exhausting and a challenge but on the drive home I feel really pleased that the children have enjoyed themselves. We are also working towards sports hall awards and it is great to see the children achieving things in sport.

              Mark Davinson

I help Brian coach the FUNdamentals group of primary school age children and occassionally stand in for Brian and Peter when they cannot be at the club. I enjoy seeing our young athletes improve their skills. I have a Coaching Assistants qualification and would like to complete more courses in thee future to help improve my coaching. I am also responsible for the club's facebook and Twitter pages and act as team manager for the Derwentside AC Cross Country teams. I also have responsibility for entering the teams into relays and events as the clubs Fixture Secretary.

I have been a member of the club since 2009.  I have always loved running since I was 13.  In fact I was a member of the club as a child.  I really enjoy leading groups of Senior members and sharing my much beloved sport of running.  I am a qualified Leader In Runniing Fitness and really enjoy leading our members out on their training runs.  I also really enjoy welcoming new members to the club and helping them to get fit and really enjoy running.

I have more recently started helping out with our Junior section and working alongside Brian and Peter.

I am also a member of the Committee and currenly hold the role of Club Secretary.
